Anyone besides me seen this?  Fairly meh, but I think I actually liked it better than the first one.

It IS a better film than the first.

I liked it.

Bill Nighy is GREAT as Davey Jones.

Yeah, I liked it too.  I mean, there isn't a whole lot of substance or anything, but it was an entertaining 2 hours. 

Davey Jones was the shit... I hope he's back in the next one.

See, while I love Bill Nighy so much I'll watch Love Actually and Underworld, I don't think PotC 2 was as good as the first. Sparrow wasn't as funny - one reviewer said the first movie was a good pirate masquerading as a coward, while the second movie was a coward masquerading as a good pirate, and that's what I felt like most of the movie was. The third one looks to be fun, but this one I felt like I was always moving because if we got a chance to stop and think about the plot, we'd be like "Whaaaaa?"

But Kiera Knightley is ace and she wants to hump Jack Sparrow, so that's cool.

and since people will respond in this thread and it doesn't fit anywhere else, anyone seen the Iron Man poster from ComicCon on AICN? I'm excited about that. Orson Scott Card's Ultimate IronMan story was pretty solid.

I dunno... this one felt much more like an Indiana Jones flick to me than the other one did.  I realize that it's blasphemy saying that, but whatever.  Sparrow running around tied to a spit made me laugh.

I agree too.  At the end of the first movie, it makes sense and Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan would make a sacrifice for Jack because deep down, he was a good man.  In the second movie, Jack was a lying coward on more than one occasion.  He had no heart.  He spent far too much time running around like a tipsy chicken.  When he finally did pull his sword, it was against his friend.

And another thing!  Keira Knightly's cute, but she's a fucking stick figure.  She doesn't really even have that willowy otherworldly beauty.  She just looks like a pretty boy.  I don't think she has the look to pull of the role of "the woman everyone wants".  I mean, the commodore, Will Turner, AND Jack.  Jack has that crazy voodoo chick plus all the skanky whores at that one port (the one based on the ride).   The only thing Keira has is spunk, and that can only get you so far.

BTW, I need a Jamaican accent real bad.
