"I think on a national level, your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out," she said.

There is no "Department of Law" at the White House.

I love it.  Almost a year after she gets tapped for a VP run, the press still nitpicks her idiotic quotes.

If I were a reporter, I'd try to get her to say that she'd want to create a Ministry of Truth.

This is one of the best articles I've read on Sarah Palin's resignation... it lays things out pretty clearly but, yes... it's from the NYT so maybe there's a liberal agenda here, I don't know.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/13/us/politics/13palin.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&sq=sarah%20palin&st=cse&scp=3

Quote
In late March, a senior official from the Republican Governors Association headed for Alaska on a secret mission. Sarah Palin was beset by such political and personal turmoil that some powerful supporters determined an intervention was needed to pull her governorship, and her national future, back from the brink.

The official, the association’s executive director, Nick Ayers, arrived with a memorandum containing firm counsel, according to several people who know its details: Make a long-term schedule and stick to it, have staff members set aside ample and inviolable family time to replenish your spirits, and build a coherent home-state agenda that creates jobs and ensures re-election.

Interesting to see the "Department of Law" quote in context.  Who knew that Alaska has a Department of Law?

It seemed very balanced to me.  Good article.

Are we following the government shutdowns?  Maryland is about to force 10 unpaid days on all government workers.  RI is next with 12 furlough days planned.

Also, look at Mena Suvari's ass:

i've never been able to think of mena as hot.  it's those fishlips and limp hair.  and tiny, tiny boobies.  and complete lack of acting talent.  to me she's only been allowed success so far because they're planning to tap her for a courtney love biopic one day.

We following the Brits?  Looks like Labour's about to fall... Though it's a good day for the Lib Dems.

I have a hard time getting a fix on the Lib-Dems.  They're centrists, and Clegg claims to be left leaning...and something about Clegg gives me a Dead Zone feeling.

But, anyway, they'll save Labour's face somewhat.  No matter which way you look at it, though, there's strong indication that the 538 site is right and this will be a hung parliament.

Of course, the weird thing with the Tories is that they're basically spouting stuff along the lines of the old Blair government and the Obama government.

Which goes back to the debate that American liberalism is actually on par with European conservatism.

Here's the gaffe that killed Labour:

Just an open mic flub at the very end where he insults the woman (who, you know, had some good points).

And, now, British National Party comedy!

Quote
BNP would offer non-white Britons £50,000 to leave UK, says Nick Griffin

Party leader says resettlement grants would be partially funded by scrapping 'ridiculous' climate change adaptation policies

The BNP would offer non-white British people £50,000 to leave "overcrowded" Britain and return to the land of their ancestors, the party's leader Nick Griffin said today.

Griffin said the voluntary programme would be open to around 180,000 people a year who "could go back and help develop their own countries". He said the scheme would be funded from the foreign aid budget and money the government is "wasting at the moment on ridiculous climate change adaptation policies".

"We're saying that we'd give resettlement grants ... this is voluntary ... we're looking probably at £50,000 per person," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

Griffin said that the doors would be closed to everyone because Britain was "the most overcrowded country in Europe", but he did give exceptions. He said that Irish people would be allowed in because "as far as we are concerned the Irish are part of Britain and are fully entitled to come here".

In the fine British tradition of spending a thousand bucks to take the piss out of people:
