The Gathering

For the past ten years, two friends from college and I have gotten together once a year. The idea is to reunite and challenge ourselves. It's a way to keep in touch with the balls to the wall fellas we were back we were full of piss and vinegar. We call this yearly meeting "The Gathering."

This past year was the tenth year, so we decided to write and a perform a play at our alma mater, and try to explore this crazy thing we do. Here's what we came up with.

Watching the whole thing is about a forty minute commitment, and it's that recorded theatre thing which can leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully, the essence comes through.

A suggestion, RC:  Move this to a public area.  It's a shame to keep it MO.  I think it's perfect for the NMP "general" thread...

It's kind of a personal thing, so I was a little bit nervous about getting it out into the open, but I'll move the thread.

Nubbins, the face punch was a stage punch which from the other side of the audience probably didn't look as good.

We get together every year and do something kind of challenging. One year we hiked forty miles in the Utah desert. Another year we did a sketch comedy show. Yet another year we biked a hundred miles down Key West. One year we simply went down to Cabo San Lucas and drank way to much tequila.

The idea is to keep in touch with the crazy, "try anything" guys we were in college.

Personal, yes.  But I think it's loads of fun.  Glad you moved it. 

And the yearly gathering is something I much admire.  It's wonderful you all have managed to keep it up for a decade.

It takes work to do, but it's worth it.

Yeah, I would love to start something like this with my buds from school.  We did a New Years Eve thing for about 4 years up in NY that was pretty fun, but nothing like this.

Of course, now everyone has babies, marriages or they live in Hawaii.  It's difficult to get everyone together.  I'm sure a bunch of us will be at our 10 year reunion in June, though.  Much booze will be had.
